Not forgotten

I'm so guilty of semi-abandoning this blog. It has been an eventful five months that I couldn't possibly bring myself to slow down and write the happenings in our family's life. After the Disneyland vacation, we proceeded to having 1/2 of our house renovated. Planning started in April and took about two months for us to decide and bring our finances in order. We were very happy to find an architect willing to work with us 24/7, via email and texts. He sent me pegs, discussed a lot of details, and enlightened me on how to proceed with our plans. He also sent a contractor that was willing to work on our budget and location.

Works began on August 4 and lasted about two months. We made so many adjustments including relocating to our in-law's spare bedroom because we couldn't take the dust any longer. Besides, they also did our bathroom and had to switch off water and power supply. In the end, it was all worth it.

Here are some photos before, during, and after the renovation works:

BEFORE: There was less space to move around and the stairway was a bit dark.

DURING: We removed the divider to open some space. Updated the tiles and paint. More light fixtures installed.

AFTER: Our top priorities were the service area and the kitchen. We opened up the ceiling in the service area, just beside the kitchen to allow light and ventilation in. This was taken early morning with just natural light coming in.

Our new dining table, in white and wood.
